I could have chosen any word. The sky was the limit when TUNETOO approached me to design my own garment.

Well, I chose one.

“chieuse”

In French, it means “a pain in the you know what.” But for me,

it’s my version of “Nasty Woman.”

Take it for what it’s worth. Open to the interpretation of the reader.

I’m sick of people underestimating my ability, my intelligence, ME.

Women are not so easily denigrated.

According to a 2010 study in the journal Psychological Science, 

“women have a lower threshold for what constitutes offensive behavior,”

This study is what people often point to, when we wonder why women are more likely to add an apology to everyday situations. Unfortunately, this is counterproductive in instances where being direct is vital — such as negotiating a salary. Please see Inside Amy Schumer’s on point skit here.

I know this is a little “Look What You Made Me Do”

But hating on powerful women is as old as the story of Medusa. 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍 Let’s give it a break already.

The French Way

Second degree humor (?) do we say that in English?

Basically making a stark juxtaposition of the sacred with the profane. It’s just enjoying the absurdity of situations being mixed up and taking nothing too seriously.

Like when this tote bag cause a ‘controversy,‘ some people need to get a sense of humor.

l’auto dérision

Literally “self-depricating humor”

It’s impossible to take oneself too seriously. Life is too short, everyone has their moments. You should be in on the laugh.

How I designed my own sweatshirt with TUNETOO

I’m so impressed with this company. I was worried that what I had in mind wouldn’t be ‘brand-friendly’ or they simply wouldn’t get it. But after a quick email to their head of marketing, she loved it too.

I’ve never seen anything like the sweatshirt I designed, and it’s truly one of my favorite pieces right now.

I started with a 100% Organic Cotton sweatshirt from Stella/Stanley

The material and cut of this sweatshirt was everything I wanted and more. It fits so well. (The measurements are true to size) It’s a little longer so I can wear it with leggings, but has side slits to keep a chic silhouette. The cuffs are really well made and the highER collar is chic as well.

Then used their EASY design tool to get inspired and create my design.

They can do almost anything you can think of- they have screenprinting, you can design MUGS, pre-made designs.

I chose to embroider my text.

It has made it a  HIGH-QUALITY piece! I know it’s going to last.

If you want to create a unique piece, I can’t recommend TuneToo enough.
